Domination – Buckeyes win 52-22

Buckeyes beat the spread and the Illini 52-22

There’s not much we can add to the headline. Ohio State came out fast (for them) and never let up, defeating the Illini by thirty.

We have a few issues with the game: Flash Stoneurner dropped two passes that hit him in the hands and Kenny G smoothly fumbled away an option pitch that Illinois returned for a touchdown. In honesty these were just as they appear to be – minor quibbles.

The defense committed several boneheaded penalties – as seems to be its habit – but only one really seemed to hurt the team, giving Illinois a first down where they would otherwise have had to settle for a field goal attempt. They ended up scoring a touchdown on the drive instead.

Otherwise the team did everything we could have expected them to do. They dominated on offense, they dominated in defense, and they ensured that we didn’t have to suffer through a reprisal of the last few minutes of the Indiana game.

Well done, everyone.
